GENERAL GUEST POLICY
Members are encouraged to bring guests to the Chicago Curling Club to watch or to play the sport. Members must accompany any of their guests under 21 years of age, whether they are curlers or onlookers.
A guest may curl, if openings are available, in various Club events, up to five times in a curling season. The CCC member bringing the guest must obtain approval from the Rinks and Events chairman. A fee will may be charged for their participation. Members must also secure permission from the Rinks and Events chairman to bring more than three curling guests on any one day.
Guest privileges shall be determined by the Board of Directors from time to time. Exceptions to the guest privilege policy must be obtained from the Board of Directors.
The Chicago Curling Club has traditionally been an adult club. Members enjoy curling, socializing, and “broom stacking” in a setting which promotes friendship, camaraderie, and mutual respect.
Many members are parents and grandparents and the club recognizes that there are times when a member’s family, including minor children, may be present at the club.
Children may attend the Summer Cornspiel, Caroling Party, Family Bonspiel, finals and awards ceremonies of the 5 major bonspiels: (Old Boys, Gloamin’ Spiel, Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed) and specific intra-club events as announced. There are events throughout the year which are not appropriate for children. These include the Opening Party, Closing Party, Annual Meeting, events with other clubs, and the five major bonspiels (except for the respective finals and awards ceremonies).
Each club member bringing a child to the club is responsible for the child’s behavior. When young children (generally meaning they are not teenagers) are at the club, it is expected that they will be closely supervised by a parent, grandparent, or babysitter. Babysitters are permitted and they must be with the children under their care in a designated area near the large screen TV. Older children (teenagers) are not expected to be as closely supervised provided that they display appropriate behavior. Children are not allowed at the tables during broom stacking.
Members, as well as visitors, are expected to exercise good judgment as to when it is appropriate to bring children to the club and ensure that the children for which they are responsible are well-behaved and respectful of members, club property, and other children at all times. Likewise, members are expected to treat children with respect
This policy provides guidelines for member families who wish to bring children to the club while ensuring that the curling and social amenities that club members enjoy and expect are not compromised.
