FAQ - Learn2Curl

1. Where is the Chicago Curling Club located?
  Map and Directions
2. How much does Learn2Curl cost?

For the 2011/2012 season, the Learn2Curl fee is $50, payable in advance via credit card. Registrations are only confirmed once the non-refundable payment is received. Learn2Curl sessions fill up quickly, so register now and get ready for a great afternoon on the ice.

The Learn2Curl Fee may be applied to a full year curling membership for those curlers  who sign-up at thir Learn2Curl session.

3. How long is a Learn2Curl session?

Learn2Curl sessions generally last about 2 1/2 hours. We begin with a brief history of Curling, watch a short video, do some stretching, and head out onto the ice for 2 hours of instruction and a simulated two-end game.

4. What should I wear to a LearnCurl?
We spend about 2 hours in the Curling house, and it is generally between 30-40 degrees Fahrenheit (13-23 degrees Celsius). We suggest that you bring multiple layers of loose fitting clothing, as part of your instruction is spent standing and part is spent actively curling. Some curlers like to bring hats and gloves. Don't forget your separate pair of sneakers to wear as curling shoes!
5. Do I need to bring special shoes?

Each curler is required to bring a separate pair of clean soft-soled shoes.

Sneakers or running shoes will work just fine.

NOTE: These cannot be your street shoes worn to the Curling Club that Day.

We must maintain the cleanest ice surface possible.

SORRY, BUT NO EXCEPTIONS!

6. I have a group of friends that would like to curl. Can we all attend together?

Curling is a team sport, and we welcome your friends and family. However, our Learn2Curl classes are limited in size.  In order to provide an opportunity for all curlers, you may bring a maximum of 3 additional curlers to a Learn2Curl session.

The Chicago Curling Club offers private party rentals for larger groups or corporate outings. Click here for our Club Rental information, or e-mail us for more information on our private club rental program.

7. Will I get to curl in a game?

Absolutely!. That is what the sport is all about.

After about 1 hour of on-ice training, you will participate in a supervised two-end game of curling. Every curler gets the opportunity to throw stones, sweep, discuss strategy, and have a great time as part of the Learn2Curl experience.

8. Do I need to sign a Liability Release prior to Curling

Yes, All curlers must sign a liability release prior to entering the Ice House.
