THE NFL
Mondays 6:00PM
October 22, 29, November 5, 12, 19, 26, December 3, 10, 17
Sign-up Deadline: October 16, 2012
This popular event returns to Monday nights at 6:00 pm. This event
gets its name by loosely following the NFL regular and postseason
play. There are two divisions of four teams each. Each division
winner plus two wildcards will play for the NFL championship. Any
ties will be broken first by the results of head-to-head competition
(see Club Rule 12 for a description of the second tie breaker).
After each draw, Monday Night Football will be on the club's TV
screens and pizza will be available to those who sign up for it.
Pizza sign-up will take place in mid-October shortly after the teams
have been formed and is optional. The cost (roughly $5/week) will be
billed monthly during the event for those who opt in.
Players can sign up either as an Individual or as a Sub. Rinks and
Events puts the teams together based on each curler's rating, with
the goal of creating closely balanced teams. The preferred method for
signing up is through the club website, but you can also email the event chair, Stephen Bergman.

THE McBAIN-PENFIELD
Tuesdays-Thursdays 8:15PM
McBain: October 23, 30, November 6, 13, 20, 27, December 4
Penfield: October 25, November 1, 8, 15, 29, December 6, 13
Sign-up Deadline: October 12, 2012
These two events are named in honor of CCC charter member Hughston M. McBain and CCC founder Samuel Penfield. They are the most competitive men's events at CCC, as they lead to the men's club championship and determine the six rinks (teams) that will be in the club's Men's International Bonspiel in January. The McBain is played on Tuesday and the Penfield is played on Thursday, both at 8:15 p.m. Each night is a round robin.
The teams that finish 1st and 2nd in each league move on to the semi-finals of the club championship which will be played this season on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. The date of the club championship will be determined after the semi-finals have been played.
The six teams that win the right to play in the bonspiel will be determined as follows. Each league's eight teams will be split into four “A” teams and four “B” teams, determined by the skips in each league. Before the event begins, each skip will independently rank the seven opponents in his league from 1 to 7. Those rankings will be combined and the top four teams will become the “A” teams while the bottom four teams will become the “B” teams. The “A” and “B” teams in each league with the best record in their group will automatically win the first four spots in the bonspiel. The 5th and 6th bonspiel teams will be determined by a playoff between: (1) the two “A” teams from each league with the 2nd best records and (2) the two “B” teams from each league that had the 2nd best records. Any ties, either for determining the four teams that go on to play for the club championship or the six teams that get into the bonspiel will be broken by head to head results. If that fails to break the tie, a draw shot challenge will be used to determine the winner.
You are free to pick your own teammates. The only restriction is that at least one player must be a rated Vice Skip or higher. Full teams are given preference. Individuals can sign up to play or sub, and partial teams can sign up, as well. In these cases, Rinks and Events will assist in filling out the teams. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that singles or even pairs will be on a team. However, Rinks and Events will do everything in its power to get everyone on a team. In the recent past nearly everyone that has signed up has gotten in. Teams are free to pick the night they want to curl. However there are times that Rinks and Events will need to make adjustments in order to balance out the total number of teams on each night.
The preferred method for signing up is through the club website, but you can also email or call the event chair.

This unrated event honors past CCC presidents. Teams are divided into two leagues with each league playing a round robin. Members form their own teams, with the condition that the junior player on the team must meet criteria set by the Rinks and Events Committee. This year that criteria is that he must be a rated Lead. Ties are played. Multiple ties are seeded by the team’s draw shot challenge (DSC) results. The semi-final pits the first place team from each league against the second place team from the other league. The winners of the two semi-final games shall play in the Presidents’ Trophy Event championship game.
Larry Berlin is the chair for this event.
Note: There is one Saturday game currently scheduled for the Thursday night group, but if the IL State Playdowns don't need Thursday, Jan. 17 we will use that as a regular night for this event and eliminate the Jan. 26 Saturday draw.
